Ancona: Port Concession, Fincantieri Launches a Development Plan
07/01/2026
Fincantieri has signed a multi-decade concession for the use of over 314,000 square meters of the Port of Ancona, with an investment of €40 million to develop the shipyard.
The concession will last until 2064.
It regulates the occupation and use of a significant portion of the port for Fincantieri's industrial activities.
The concession area encompasses over 314,000 square meters of land, water, and facilities within the port.
This agreement will enable Fincantieri to strengthen its shipbuilding activities.
The process leading to the concession began in 2017 and concludes with a commitment from Fincantieri to modernize and develop the Ancona shipyard.
The overall planned investment is approximately €40 million, with the goal of making the Marche site more competitive in the construction of large naval vessels.
The investment in Ancona is seen as an opportunity to enhance the country's ability to be a leader in innovation and international competitiveness.
Cruise ship construction, in which the Ancona shipyard specializes, continues to grow and bring environmental innovations and onboard experience.
The concession confirms the desire to enhance the strategic role of the port and shipyard, strengthening their contribution to the economic development of the region and the Italian naval sector.
This agreement represents a new step in the shared journey between Fincantieri and the Port Authority, initiated with the agreement signed in November 2023.
Fincantieri intends to transform the shipyard into a center of excellence, where tradition and technology come together to generate value for the region and the entire industrial supply chain.
The commitment is to build, together with the Port Authority and local institutions, a sustainable and innovative future for the Italian shipbuilding industry.
