Hp, 6,000 job cuts planned due to artificial intelligence
09/02/2026
Hp plans to cut up to 6,000 jobs over the next three years through increased use of artificial intelligence), with initial restructuring costs estimated at $650 million.
The job cuts come after the computer and printer maker, which had around 58,000 employees at the end of October last year, expanded a previously announced reduction of around 7,000 positions with an additional 1,000-2,000 roles.
Updated workforce figures are not yet available.
Hp said the new cuts are part of a broader plan to drive innovation, productivity and customer satisfaction through AI, which is increasingly used in US companies for software programming and data analysis.
The decision follows a broader trend in the technology sector, where companies have cited the adoption of Ia as the cause of job cuts.
In October, Amazon announced it would cut about 14,000 administrative positions, highlighting the organisational changes induced by artificial intelligence.
Hp reported revenues of $55.3 billion in the last fiscal quarter, up about 3% year-on-year, while net income fell 9% to $2.5 billion.
