Prysmian to lead joint venture with Fincantieri to acquire Xtera

Prysmian is leading a joint venture with Fincantieri to acquire Xtera, a leading provider of turnkey submarine telecommunications projects.
The transaction has an enterprise value of $65 million.
Prysmian and Fincantieri have also entered into a partnership to develop innovative installation and safety services.
Xtera will be acquired by a joint venture between Prysmian (with an 80% stake) and Fincantieri (with a 20% stake).
The acquisition positions Prysmian as a global player in submarine telecommunications, leveraging its consolidated leadership in submarine power solutions.
Fincantieri thus confirms its leading role in the development of integrated solutions for the submarine sector, with a particular focus on unmanned and security solutions.
Customers will benefit from a one-stop shop offering for complete submarine telecommunications solutions and leadership in cable security.
The business is well-positioned for long-term growth, driven by data centers and hyperscalers, as well as incumbent telecommunications operators.
