Stellantis has decided to expand its network of factories dedicated to hybrid car transmissions.

In fact, the group has also assigned the production of eDCT (Electrified Dual Clutch Transmission) gearboxes to the Termoli plant.

The Molise site will in fact produce transmissions from next year, with a fully operational target of three hundred thousand units per year, and will thus join the Mirafiori and Metz plants.

There are therefore three factories dedicated to the production of a hybridization technology that integrates a 21 kW electric motor in a dual clutch transmission and equips the entire range of mild hybrid vehicles and the new generation of plug-in hybrids (Phev).

Stellantis' decision, which follows the recent acquisition of full control of the specific joint venture created in 2018 with the Belgian Punch Powertrain, will also have consequences on other factories, currently dedicated to the production of key components for the same gearboxes: in fact, the production levels of the components of Sint Truden and Metz itself will be increased, where a new assembly line will also be installed.
