The Chinese car finds a home in Emilia-Romagna
17/03/2021
The giants Faw and Silk EV are about to start a production of electric and plug-in cars in the Motor Valley, for a total investment of over €1 billion. The Motor Valley is a unique industrial district in the world, with 16,500 companies and over 90,000 employees, with an annual turnover of 16 billion and 7 billion exports. In all likelihood Emilia will be the beating heart of the design, engineering and production of the latest zero-emission models and high-end PHEVs, thus making Italy the first pole of Chinese cars outside the national borders. After Changchun, FAW’s headquarters, Emilia-Romagna will host the largest large-scale manufacturing plant of the new range of full electric and plug-in, that will be born from the join venture already signed by the larger auto maker Chinese group (with nearly 4 million vehicles sold and $ 90 billion in revenue); and Silk EV, an American company specializing in auto engineering and design. The two companies will create a completely interconnected innovation center in our region, a real experience center within the Motor Valley. A project of international scope that fits perfectly into the Green New Deal that the whole of Europe is looking at, which finds one of its priorities in the hybrid and electric engine. The announcement came on February Tuesday 2nd, during an institutional video conference meeting attended by Stefano Bonaccini, president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the president of Faw, Xu Liuping, and the president of Silk EV, Jonathan Krane. "This join venture - explains Liuping - represents an important milestone for the Chinese, Italian and global automotive industry". It’s with great admiration for all parties involved that we look at this huge project and its implementation plan, which represent an innovation program that will be able to "realize" the future, and besides, directly to our home.
