H2 Laguna: a hub will be created in Venice to produce 10 MW of green hydrogen
19/02/2024
The «H2 Laguna» project consists of a 10 megawatt electrolysis plant to produce green hydrogen.
This is a plant that will be used to supply companies in the transport sector operating at a regional level that will use trucks equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system, with the aim to promote the decarbonisation of water transport in the Venice lagoon.
The project involves an investment of 25 million and aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 14 thousand tons per year.
The plant will be powered by electricity from renewable sources and will be built on a San Marco Petroli site in the maritime area of ??Porto Marghera, a privileged position where land transport intersects and is interconnected with water transport.
The project is a first step to build a regional system for land transport and maritime navigation, one of the first building blocks of a broader system that will allow the development of zero-emission transport solutions in the Veneto.
