Positive data on Italian exports in recent months.
Recent data on Italian exports show positive trends. Italian exports have grown across all the country's macro-regions compared to previous months, while year-on-year increases were primarily recorded in the Central, Southern, and North-Western regions.
These findings come from Istat estimates, which highlight the most significant month-on-month changes in the South and Islands (+13.1%) and the Centre (+7.2%); meanwhile, the North-West saw a more modest rise (+1.5%) and the North-East recorded a slight increase (+0.8%). In terms of year-on-year performance—against a national average growth of 1.3% in value—the Centre stands out with strong expansion of 13.8%.
This was driven largely by Tuscany, which posted a remarkable +30.2% increase, fueled primarily by higher sales of metals and pharmaceutical products.
The South also showed significant progress (+7.1%), while the North-West grew by 1.3%. Conversely, the North-East experienced a 2.4% decline, and the Islands saw a 19% drop. Alongside Tuscany, other regions posting particularly positive results include Abruzzo (+23.5%), Liguria (+20.8%), Basilicata (+18.2%), and Marche (+15.5%).
Conversely, the sharpest declines were recorded in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (-35.4%), Sardinia (-21.1%), Sicily (-18.1%), Valle d’Aosta (-13.3%), and Lazio (-11.4%).
In the specific case of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Lazio, the drop in exports is primarily attributable to a decline in sales of transport equipment, excluding motor vehicles.
