MSC, two new hydrogen ships ordered from Fincantieri

Explora Journeys, a luxury cruise brand, announces the signing of a memorandum of agreement for two new ships also powered by hydrogen with Fincantieri, increasing the number of ships of the new brand from four to six.
Starting from the third unit produced, the ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas; in addition Explora V and VI will have a liquid hydrogen collection system that will feed a 6 megawatt fuel cell to produce emission-free energy, used for operation in the hotel areas in the port with the engines off.
As stated by Pierfrancesco Vago, executive president of MSC's cruise division, the goal is "zero emissions by 2050”.
