Nautical Valley

26/01/2026

A new industrial vision is born in Romagna area: the Nautica Valley.

The new master's degree program in nautical engineering at the University of Bologna has been officially presented, the result of a public-private investment aimed at providing new, advanced skills to manage the complexity of the recreational boatbuilding industry in the "Adriatic district."

Emilia-Romagna Regional Vice President Vincenzo Colla delivered a clear message: "Perhaps the time has come to say that we can work to create the Nautica Valley of Romagna," a strong territorial identity, like the Motor Valley and the Food Valley, capable of speaking to the world.

And all the ingredients are there: a recognized industrial heritage of excellence; a globally growing sector based on high-value niches; a technological convergence between advanced materials, artificial intelligence, and new skills; and concrete investments, such as the new master's degree in Nautical Engineering at the University of Bologna, which already represents a strong signal of vision and credibility.

Romagna area demonstrates once again that when public and private sectors plan together, regions become more fertile, more attractive, and more capable of generating quality.

Today, we're not just talking about an economic sector, but about an identity that can become a platform for development, innovation, and talent.

Thanks to all the local stakeholders and companies in the supply chain who have made this crucial step forward in understanding this sector possible and for making this initiative a success!
